Our Christmas Collection for THAT

A MESSAGE FROM THAT...
Thank You so much for your most generous food donation. We are especially grateful given the increasing cost of living which is affecting us all.

Sadly, we are seeing a steady increase in the number of people coming to us for assistance and are currently also supporting a number of Ukrainian families who are living locally.
We are providing food, toiletry and cleaning packs as well as Christmas “goody” boxes so are extremely busy.
We rely heavily on the generosity of the local community together with the dedication of our volunteers and manager to enable us to continue to support those in greatest need in our area.

Should your organisation know of any individual/family in need of assistance please do not hesitate to contact us (by phone or email) with their details and we will be happy to help.

Christmas Shoebox and humanitarian aid collection for CR2EE

We have been making shoeboxes and collecting clothes and other items of humanitarian aid to go to Moldova and Ukraine via Christian Response to Eastern Europe (CR2EE).

Ram Fair 2022

KCBC were at the Kingsteignton Ram Fair on Monday 2nd May 2022, giving fair-goers the opportunity to have a free group photo taken in a fun frame, to celebrate coming together again after the isolation caused by the pandemic. View your free photo below!

Easter Egg Chicks 2022

Rose is ready to ‘fledge’ the Chicks!

A big THANK YOU to all those who Knitted, nattered and prayed for the Easter egg chicks given to the toddlers at Kilts. They were a complete hit with the children, who responded with pure joy and excitement! Some of the parents seemed particularly touched that people in the church would do such a thing.

We held a service to celebrate our pets, how they are helping us through these strange times and to thank God for them.

Dear David,
Please thank your congregation for their donation of groceries and toiletries.
We supported over 700 people in the last 6 months through the provision of food parcels, toiletry and home start packs, bus and greengrocery vouchers and fuel top ups. We have a mentoring service offering support to vulnerable clients attending appointments at CAB, Housing, Job Centre etc and provide information and referrals to help clients towards better future outcomes.
As you are all aware the financial pressures on families is ever increasing and the demands made on food banks is also rising. We rely on the support of individuals, companies and local groups to enable us to provide for the needs of these local people.
Please pass our thanks on to your congregation for their continued support for our work.

Ram Fair May 2018

Once again we had a stand at the ram fair.





People were asked to answer the following 3 questions by putting counters into a tube representing their views. We had almost 200 results for each question.

The first KCBC Christians Against Poverty CAP Money Course has just finished. I wanted to share how informative, encouraging and helpful this course has been.
It was very informal, friendly and supportive. We used the CAP booklet and watched sessions on the DVD.
Had some homework to do and shared honestly our tips and habits for handling money.
We found alternative ways to be good stewards and save money. Everyone had different reasons for doing the course.
You do not need to be in debt to benefit from it but if you are it can be the tool to changing your situation.
I would encourage anyone who may be thinking of doing this course to put their name down for the next one. Karen

Our Away Day

On the 16th of April we went to Heatree Activity Centre, Dartmoor.

We started our day with worship,



which was lead by Tom Hayes from Kings Church in Newton Abbot and a group of young musicians. We would like to thanks them for a great start to the day.



We then had a time of teaching and discussion led by Debbie Laycock, from Ichthus Forest Hill in London.

Our Christmas Events

Carols Around the Tree Friday 11th December 7pm
One of the town councillors has a vision for an annual town celebration of Christmas around the tree at the Fountain (next to Mini-Tesco).
The idea of a public, open service in the town sound like something that the churches got excited about and supported it.
We wrapped up warm, went down to the Fountain for half an hour of carols.

This year we again filled boxes with gifts are sent to children who live in extreme poverty often in orphanages. Many are victims of war or come from families where parents are too ill or too poor to take care of them.
A shoebox with simple things like a toothbrush, toothpaste, a ball, pencils and notebook, a woolly hat etc. mean so much to children who otherwise would receive no gifts at Christmas.

Food Collections

We hold regular collections for THAT (Teignbridge Homeless Action Today)who coordinate the local food bank. As well as food being collected new household items such as bedding, kitchen utensils etc. are also needed

Social Events

Our Social Team organise regular events the most recent being a board game evening for people of all ages. We have also had got a very successful line dancing evening, picnics, quizzes, a circus skills evening and skittles evenings.

Kingsteignton Ram Fair

KCBC together with other churches in the area ran a stall at the Kingsteignton Town Ram Fair. Thousands of people attended the event and many visited our stall.

2015

Once again we celebrated the resurrection of Christ together on Easter Sunday starting with the SONRISE service by The Passage House Inn on the River Teign.

This was followed by breakfast at the hall and the Easter Sunday Worship Service at 10:30am in the community hall.

Once again KCBC were in Newton Abbot on late night Christmas shopping nights,3rd and 10th of December, giving shoppers the opportunity to dress up, with the costumes provided, as characters from the nativity story. Their photo was the taken of their very own nativity scene, which was then available to download on our website.

CWI event - 'The Jewish Roots of Our Faith' with Alan Murphy.

On 26th October We delved into the question of where Christianity comes from. Alan will looked at our faith in the light of its Jewish roots and showed how we can rediscover the richness of our Old Testament.

Alan speaks around the country on a number of subjects relating to the Jewish background to the Christian faith and has spoken at KCBC twice before.

Christian Witness to Israel are an interdenominational society committed to sharing the Good News of Jesus the Messiah with the Jewish people and to help make Christians aware of the spiritual and material debt they owe to the Jews.

BBQ and Swim

KCBC together with the other churches in Kingsteignton who run Messy Church organised a BBQ and Swim, a great time was had by all.
